This page has some updates in progress, but in the meantime, a brief description of our facilities is given below...

Canterbury Hospital radio broadcasts from purpose-built studio premises at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital. Our modern studio is equipped to handle most types of media, including:

National and international news is received direct from IRN, via digital satellite, and broadcast on the hour. Local and audience-specific news items are gathered via Teletext, the Internet, newspapers and our own staff, allowing us to provide a dedicated and comprehensive news service.

Our studio also has non-linear editing facilities, comprising Adobe Audition, running on a dedicated PC equipped with a professional sound card.

We are currently in the process of commissioning our music storage/automation system purchased from P Squared. The Myriad system (recently upgraded to version 3) is already in-use live in our studio, enabling our presenters to search through nearly 4000 tracks and play music and requests which are stored our music server. As our presenters learn how to use the more advanced features, they will be able to set-up running orders to help plan and sequence their lives programmes.

The Autotrack Pro part of the system allows us to create advanced 24-hour schedules, playing themed and general programmes 24-hours each day. We are still learning how to use this part of the system, but, when our new Station jingles and imaging are delivered later this month, CHR will see another milestone in our history when we start 24-hour broadcasting.

We are currently working on a joint project between the League of Friends, and the Hospital Trust (Chaplaincy and Estates departments) to relay live broadcasts from the chapel to those patients who are unable to attend Services in person. We hope to start relaying live Services on Sunday afternoons and the weekly Communion on a Thursday in time for Advent.

Our record library has an extensive collection of vinyl and a modest, but growing, range of CD's.

Finally, our mobile public address and recording facilities allow us to cover events away from the studio.
